Bauchi Governor To Join Campaign Against Gender Baed Violence

In his effort to support the ongoing war against gender based violence, Bauchi State Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has pledged to work with critical stakeholders by keying into the campaign against all forms of violence against women in the society.
Governor Bala was speaking when he received in audience, members of the Northern Youth Alliance for Peace and Development who paid him an advocacy visit at the Government House Bauchi.
The governor who lamented on the persistent cases of gender based violence pledged the readiness of his administration to continue to initiate policies geared towards ensuring the total eradication of violence and rape against women and girls in the state.
“I want to sincerely welcome you to Government House Bauchi and in doing so, appreciate you for the sense of commitment and sacrifice as well as your advocacy which remains at the forefront in creating awareness and the need for all of us to know the dangers associated with rape.
“Rape has no gender or colour and should therefore be rejected; it is not only your organisation, it is for all to join hands in the protection of the rights of women especially the girl child.”
The governor who was represented by the Chief of Staff, Government House Bauchi, Dr Ladan Salihu, applauded the organisation for embarking on such campaigns, promising government’s support in that direction.
He tasked the entire citizens of the state to key into the fight against the ugly act to ensure it was totally defeated for the betterment of the society.
The leader of the delegation, Babayo Liman explained that the group has keyed into the campaign against rape to compliment the efforts of the United Nations, Nigerian Government and the Bauchi state government in tackling the menace.
He said the group which embarked on the rally in the ancients city of Bauchi to say “No to Rape” and to support the laudable initiatives of critical stakeholders working against sexual violence and harassment, forced sexual acts, unwanted sexual advances, child sexual abuse, forced marriage, human trafficking among others.
“Your Excellency, we are here to tell the entire world that we are against persistent cases of rape; we want the Bauchi state government to do everything possible to stop the ugly act in the state.”
Babayo Liman commended the state government for taking proactive measures to address the menace.
