Bauchi Govt Sacks Top Pension Board Official Over N3m Scam

The Bauchi State Civil Service Commission (CSC) has terminated the appointment of the Chief Secretariat Assistant of the state pensions board,  Ibrahim Garba for fraudulently pocketing N3,017,919.30. 

WikkiTimes gathered that Ibrahim replaced the account details of one Audi Mohammed who until his death was a civil servant with the Bauchi State with his own personal account. He pocketed N54,871.26 monthly salaries of the deceased for a period of 55 months, the commission said.

Chairman Bauchi State Civil Service Commission, Abubakar Usman Said the commission approved the termination during its 17th plenary session held on August 1, at its Conference Hall.

He said officer was found wanting for serious misconduct for involving himself in salary/pension scam, adding his action violated Public Service Rules (PSR) 0327 (XI) that dealt with the issues of financial embezzlement.

Usman explained the disciplinary committee of the pension board had found Garba guilty after its investigations.

“Thereafter, Ibrahim Garba received illegally pension for Fifty Five (55) months of N54,871.26 each month for Four (4) Years Seven (7) Months which amounted to N3,017,919.30 which shall be recovered from his benefit,” he said. 

The chairman warned workers in the state to be God fearing in the discharge of their duties.

He said the public service rules must be observed and adhered to a companion, and affirmed that it will be applied where necessary to sanitize the system so that the service would be run transparently. 

The chairman assured the civil servants in the state that no worker will be victimized for nothing. He added that the commission would not fold its hands while bad eggs spoil and sabotaging the service despite the government’s effort to address issues concerning the progress and development of the state.
