Bauchi Govt trains officers on new HIMS tools-official

The officer in charge of Bauchi State Health Information Management System (HIMS), Mr Mohammed Jibrin, said his office had conducted training for 35 Programme, Monitoring and Evaluation Officers from the 20 Local Government Areas of the state on the 2019 version of data tools.

Jibrin told News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Bauchi that the training, aimed at updating their knowledge, took place from Sept.22 – 23.

He said those trained, which included 15 participants from development partners, were expected to also train service providers at the local government level.

He said that the HIMS tools were supposed to be upgraded bi-annually but due to logistic constraints, the state still used the 2013 version.

“The state still uses 2013 version due to some logistic constraints; the version should be upgraded after two years, so the state will change to the 2019 version by 2020,” he said.

Also, the HIMS specialist of Integrated Health Project (IHP), Mr Samson Adeyemi, told NAN that the USAID funded project was aimed at supporting the state in reducing morbidity in mothers and children under the age of five.

He said that the development partners were also duty bound to contribute in the reduction of maternal and child mortality in the state. (NAN)
