Bauchi State High Court has adjourned a ‘defamatory’ case filed against WikkiTimes by Albasar International Foundation to May, 5th 2021 for proper mentioning.
Albasar in the defamatory case filed before Justice Aliyu Baba Usman of Bauchi State High Court No. 4, is demanding over 1 billion Naira in damages.
WikkiTimes had documented how Makkah Eye Hospital through shoddy means continues to short-change the Bauchi State Government in taxes, maltreat patients, and systematically sacked indigenous staff of Bauchi extraction.

After the publication and the legal suit filed against the medium, its publisher Haruna Mohammed Salisu and a reporter Kamal Idris, the hospital allegedly resorted to issuing threats to the publisher and his family members.
Al-Mufeed Law Firm had responded to the threat by filing a petition against Makkah Eye Hospital before the Bauchi State Commissioner of police.
Barrister S.G Idrees, counsel to WikkiTimes while fielding questions from newsmen said “the case is coming up in court for the first time.
“Given the time I was briefed, I couldn’t file the memorandum of appearance on time, that is why I filed a motion for extension of time which is heard and granted by the court today and the court adjourned the matter to May 5th, 2021 for further mention.
Barrister Kabir Yusuf, counsel to the Plaintiff said they will follow the case to its logical conclusion.
