Bauchi Police net Sodomist, 5 suspected rapists

The Bauchi state police command said it has arrested a 28 year old suspected homosexualist, Yusuf Yakubu of Bayan Ganuwa Yakubu Wanka, Gombe road, Bauchi.

The Police Public relations officer of the command, DSP Ahmed Wakili stated this in a press statement made available to newsmen yesterday in Bauchi.

He said that the suspect allegedly lured his victim who is 13 years of Unguwan Doya, Gombe road and had anal sex with him.  

The PPRO said that the father of the victim, Usman Ahmed reported on 23rd September, 2020 to police that the suspect lured his son to his house situated at Bayan Ganuwa area and forcefully had anal-sexual intercourse with him.

“On receipt of the report, team of Policemen were drafted to the scene and the victim was taken to General Hospital Bauchi for medical treatment and got the suspect arrested”, DSP Wakil explained.  

He added that the police also arrested five suspected rapists at Udubo village in Gamawa local government area of Bauchi state for raping a 14 year old girl at different times.

The suspects according to the police image maker are: Sagir Ahmed (22yrs), Muhammed Tukur (24yrs), Haruna Baba Babayo (32yrs), Musa Dahiru (30yrs) and Bappah Garba (24yrs), all of Unguwar Chadi Gamawa in Gamawa Local government area of Bauchi state.

He said that the suspected rapists who were arrested on 22nd September, 2020 have been raping one Hauwa (not real name) 14yrs of the same address at different times.

DSP Wakil said investigation revealed that the suspects have been giving the victim an inducement ranging from N200 to N500.

He said, when interrogated, all the suspects who got arrested confessed to the crime, while the victim was taken to General Hospital Gamawa for medical attention.

The PPRO noted that one of the arrested five suspected rapists, Sagir Ahmed has been on the wanted list of the police over a rape case.

DSP Wakil said investigation is in progress after which all the suspects would be charge to court for prosecution.

He added that his Principal, CP Lawan Tanko Jimeta called on law abiding citizens not to relent in exercising their civic responsibility of giving vital information that will help the Police in providing security of lives and property.
