Bauchi state assembly member reassures constituents of basic amenities

A member in the Bauchi state assembly, Hon. Yunusa Ahmed has reassured the people of his constituency of his determination to provide them with basic social amenities.

Ahmed who is representing Warji constituency at the state assembly said that the basic social amenities he will provide include; portable drinking water, quality healthcare and sound education among others.

The state assembly member gave the assurance while responding to request by his constituents at the International Republican Institute (IRI)/CEPPS supported legislative town hall meeting held in warji local government area recently.

“Since I came on board, I have been making concerted efforts by meeting relevant stakeholders, donor agencies as well as government officials with the view of bringing dividend of democracy that will impact positively on the lives of my people”, Hon Ahmed said.

According to him, “this kind of forum is very important because it will give us, the opportunity to have direct contact with our people and hear expectations.”

Hon Yunusa Ahmed described the provision of basic social amenities such as portable drinking water, quality healthcare services and conducive learning environment as a right of the citizens and not a privileged.

He commended the International Republican Institute (IRI) for the technical support and assistance, promising to justify the confidence reposed in him by his constituents.

WikkiTimes reports that the meeting was aimed at providing platform for the legislators to get responses and feedback from his constituents on service delivery issues.

The meeting attracted the presence of citizens from various groups such as the ward development committees, WASHCOMS, NURTW, women and youth groups, traditional leaders among others.

Lack of portable drinking water, Anti-natal drugs in most of the health facilities, poor road network and insufficient female health workers were some of the issues that featured during the town hall meeting.
