The troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN (OpSH) have recovered the remains of the missing Fulani leader, Ardo Adamu Idris Gabdo in Boi community in Tafawa Balewa local government of Bauchi State.
Gabdo was the Ardo (Fulani title holder) of Panyam, in the crisis-ravaged Mangu local government of Plateau State, and was declared missing on Sunday 24 September 2023.
WikkiTimes has earlier reported that OpSH said that they have released nine persons from the 12 suspects earlier arrested over the murder of the herders’ leader.

The General Officer Commanding 3 Division Nigerian Army and Commander Operation SAFE HAVEN, Major General AE Abubakar disclosed the recovery via theCommand’s official X account, explaining that they had conducted the operations in the early hours of Wednesday 5 October 2033 and were able to identify and recover the remains of the body which has been handed over to the family for proper burial.
“The troops conducted the operations in the early hours of today, Wednesday 5 October 2033 and were able to identify and recover the remains of the body of the missing Ardo around Boi along Pankshin – Bauchi Road in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of Bauchi State. The body has since been handed over to the family for proper burial.”
The statement said the success that led to the recovery of the deceased remains was as a result of the troops working closely with community leaders and critical stakeholders as well as family members of the slain victim.
“Consequently, the recovery of Ardo Adamu Idris Gabdo’s remains marks a significant step forward in unravelling the circumstances surrounding his disappearance. The investigation will now proceed with renewed vigour to identify and apprehend those responsible for this heinous crime and quickly bring them to justice as directed by the Chief of Army Staff,” the statement added.
Major General Abubakar while condoling the family late Ardo Gabdo, urged the general public to remain vigilant, cooperate with security agencies and provide any relevant information that may assist in its investigations.
