An early morning fire outbreak has razed down shops in Sokoto’s main Market in Sokoto State.
An eye witness, told WikkiTimes that even though the cause of the the fire is yet to unkown but started around 6:00am withing Motorcycle and Bicycle sellers section of the market.
According to Malam Ahmed it took combined efforts of fire service officials and residents to put off the fire, noting that many shops were razed down.
“As am talking to you now am in the market, traders are packing up what remains from their shops. The damage is severe but we can’t say the exact figure of valuables lost as at now”.
“It started in the early hours of today(Monday) when the market is still close. The traders have not yet started opening their shops when it happened but now the whole market is filled with people who helped put off the fire and the efforts of fire service trucks. As far as we know there is no any lost of live but the whole motorcycle and bicycle section of the market has been razed down”, Ahmed told WikkiTimes.
Even though there is no official statement on the incident, sympathizers are trooping in to the market while traders are packing up what remains in their shops as at press time.
