Conference speakers advise men to live up to responsibility as head of family

Rev.  Michael Oluwole, Coordinator, Redeemer’s Men Fellowship (RMF), has advised  men to live up to their responsibilities as the head of the family and not abandon them to their wives or government.

Oluwole, a pastor with the church, who gave the advice  at the ”2019 Region 10 Men’s Convention” in Abuja on Saturday, noted that when a man cared for his home properly he cared for the community.

The clergyman who harped on the theme of  the convention,  ”Excellence”, noted that  everyone needed God to survive in the current economic hardship in the country and stressed that  men must play their roles as heads of families.

He said that the programme was aimed at motivating and empowering men because of the important roles they played in the home and the church.

”We need to live a life of excellence in order to satisfactorily perform this noble role in our day to day dealings;  we need to embrace the word of God and by so doing, we are laying the foundation of excellence.

”In times and seasons as we have now, we need God to direct our path and set our priorities because wisdom, knowledge, academic qualification or even riches cannot guarantee us success,” he said.

Mr Dare Victor, the Group Managing Director, Betterways, stressed that there were opportunities everywhere in the country for anyone who wanted to succeed.

Victor advised said that  rather than wait for the government to provide everything, Nigerians  must start thinking of what to do for the country which would benefit them at the end.

He said there were businesses that required very little capital to start, which would grow and become big in a short while, if well nurtured.

He said unemployment was on the increase in the country because of the lack of self-discovery and diligence among the people.

”Most of our men are very lazy and they keep blaming government for their failure, government cannot provide anything for anybody, all government can do is to provide the climate for us to work.

”There are opportunities everywhere in country, men are just lazy, for example, you don’t need a certificate to drive Uber, kekenapep or to start a fruit business.

”Prayer or speaking in tongue don’t pay bills, one of the ways to abuse God is to pray and do nothing, as a man you must respond to financial emergencies.

”If you can’t make sacrifices, you can’t make money and all you need is hard work and persistence,

”Nigeria is like a palm tree, when you get to a palm, you can get palm oil, palm nuts, brooms and basket from one tree depending on what you want,” he said.

He urged Nigerians who were jobless to look inward rather than wait for a white collar job or what government could do for them. (NAN)
