A statement by the governor’s Senior Special Assistance onmedia, Mukhtari Gidado said the committees were inaugurated following a meetingbetween the governor and the 20 LGs Chairmen which took place at the councilchamber, government house Bauchi.

The statement quoted the governor as saying that thecommittees will sensitize citizens at the grassroots on COVID-19 pandemic, and “willensure compliance with the order for the closure of borders across the state.

“We discussed issues concerning COVID-19 pandemic andthe need to establish Local Government Committees that will ensure sensitisation,surveillance and compliance with boundaries’ closure so that we will beprotected from coronovirus disease”, the statement quoted the Governor Bala assaying.

Disturbed about the rise of coronavirus positive patients inthe state, the Governor directed the Chairmen to ban businesses and socialgatherings with visitors from other states.

The governor also ordered all the LG Chairmen to ensure that3 million face masks were manufactured before making its use compulsory in thestate.

He instructed the Caretaker Committee Chairmen tomanufacture and distribute the face masks at grassroots so as to prevent thespread of the disease.
