Declare Bala Mohammed Governor elect now, Bauchi PDP tells INEC

The Bauchi State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to declare its candidate Senator Bala Mohammed winner of the 2019 governorship election in the state on Tuesday when it reconvenes for continuation of collation of Tafawa Balewa local government results.

State Publicity Secretary of the party Alhaji Yayanuwa Zainabari gave the charge today while addressing journalists in Bauchi, where he claimed that if the results of Tafawa Balewa local government are added, their candidate would be leading with over 14, 000 votes.

According to him, the number of votes cancelled at some polling units across the state could not affect PDP’s victory, pointing out that President Muhammadu Buhari defeated Atiku Abubakar with 3 million votes but was declared winner despite the fact that the number of rejected votes were over 5 Million.

Zainabari vowed that PDP would resist any attempt to steal its mandate, appealing to the electoral body to respect the choice of the electorate in the state.

He asked the APC which rejected the decision of INEC to continue with the collation of the earlier cancelled results to go to the tribunals if they were not satisfied rather than making utterances capable of igniting conflicts in the state.

It would be recalled that the APC in the state had accused the panel sent by INEC headquarters to the state to probe issues that led to the cancellation of Tafawa Balewa local government results.

The APC accused the State returning officer, saying he was bias.

Bauchi State APC Chairman Uba Nana in a press conference also lamented that the investigative committee didn’t act on the petition filed by APC against Bauchi local government election, which they alleged was marred by over voting and disruptions by thugs.
