Doma Utd FC of Gombe on Wednesday defeated Damaturu Academy FC 2-1 to qualify from Bauchi centre in the Nationwide League One (NLO) competition.
Damaturu academy was the first to hit the back of the net of their opponents in the 26th minute through Ismaila Ali, who capitalised on a defensive blunder.
On resumption for the second half, Doma Utd leveled up through a penalty, converted by Adamu Bako, and went ahead to cap it up with the winning goal in the 62nd minute, through Ishiaku Ligu.
In the 62nd minute, Doma United again scored its second goal through Ishiyaku ligu to defeat Damaturu Academy 2-1, and qualify from fBauchi Centre.
Fielding questions after the encounter, Coach of Doma FC , Saidu Umar, said his boys were complacent initially, until their opponents woke them up with the curtain-raiser.
“When we returned for the second half, they improved and eventually did the needful,” he said.
On his part, Coach of Damaturu Academy, Ernest Jupiter, attributed the loss suffered by his boys to ‘bad officiating’.
“Very bad officiating, it was the worst officiating I have ever seen in my life as a coach”, he fumed.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that 14 clubs featured at the Bauchi centre, which had two venues, namely Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium (ATBS) and Federal Polytechnic Football pitch.
Doma United FC of Gombe qualified from the Federal Polytechnic pitch with 11 points, while Damaturu Academy FC qualified from ATBS pitch with 17 points, paving way for their clash in the finals.
