The Katsina People’s Forum on Tuesday donated food items worth thousands of Naira to the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) for distribution to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the state.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the donation was done through the forum’s Committee on Resource Mobilization for Humanitarian Services.
The Committee Chairman, Alhaji Lawal Yusuf-Shema, said that the items would be distributed to the beneficiaries across the state.
The items donated were bags of rice, cartons of spaghetti, macaroni, vegetable oil, vegetables, cartons of noodles, among others.
He explained that the items were donated by members as their contributions toward assisting the poor and the IDPs in the society.
Responding, the Executive Secretary, Katsina State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Alhaji Babangida Nasamu, thanked the forum for the gesture.
“I appreciate the way members decided to come personally and present the items.
“One lesson I have learnt is that the money used in purchasing such items was raised by some individuals, who have retired from civil service,” he said.
He promised to distribute the items judiciously to beneficiaries across the state. (NAN)
