Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a 35-year-old ex-convict, Wilson Sunday for defiling five girls who are between the ages of eight and 13 in Damalu, Yola North.
Confirming the arrest on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the command, Suleiman Nguroje said the suspect usually picked his victims when they were going or returning from school. The police spokesman further mentioned that the suspect lured them into an uncompleted building where he would raped them.
Nguroje stated that the suspect who confessed to having committed the crime had once been convicted of raping and defiling different girls in the state since January.
The ex-convict was arrested after the father of the latest victim reported the case to the divisional police headquarters in Kofare, Yola, the capital of Adamawa State.
Nguroje further confirmed that the state Commissioner of Police, Afolabi Babatola had directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of CID to take over the investigation.
