A two-day annual retreat for the press corps of FCT Minister has opened in Bauchi with a call on participants to complement government efforts in addressing the challenges of insecurity in the Federal Capital Territory.
Organised by the Federal Capital Territory Administration, the retreat was to prepare the participants on the effective ways of handling security related cases in their daily reportage
Declaring the workshop opened, the Bauchi State Governor Senator Bala Muhammad, observed that the training will enhance the work of the participants in exposing criminal activities not only in the FCT but the entire country.
Represented by Chief of Staff Government House Bauchi Alh. Abubakar Kari, governor Bala Muhammad explained that as former FCT he is aware of the challenges bedevling the area describing the retreat as a welcomed development.
He emphasized the need for regular training of journalists across the country to ensure professionalism in the practice of journalism.
In a remark the chairman of the FCT Minister’s Press Corps Ikharo Attah who noted that the retreat was to build the capacity of Journalists reporting the activities of the ministry, listed the challenges of Abuja that need the attention of journalists to include, kidnapping, Cultism, arm rubbery, traffic congestion among others

the exercise describing governor Bala as media friendly..
The retreat drew over forty participants among whom are broadcast and print journalists as well as staff from information unit of the ministry.
