FG train 40 LGA facilitators on livelihood intervention in North East

The National Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) office has on the 27, July 2020 commenced four days orientation training for 40 Local Government Councils (LGA)Facilitators in North East on another Household Uplighting Program (HUP) named livelihood intervention in Bauchi state.

The orientation training was held in Bauchi state with Dass and Ningi Local Government Councils selected for a pilot exercise on the program.

The beneficiaries of the livelihood program would be selected from the poor of the poorest and the vulnerable households in the society.

Speaking,the National Coordinator Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT),Dr.Temitope Sunkayi said that the orientation training was to be conducted for Dass and Ningi local government councils selected for a pilot exercise for the north East zone.

Sunkayi who was represented by the National Livelihood Program Officer,Mrs Olumuyiwa Babarunti said that the intervention was the third component of the CCT program.

“The livelihood intervention is the third component and beneficiaries will be trained on skills for income generation,micro business among others.

“Dass and Ningi LGA all in Bauchi state are selected for the pilot exercise in North East.

“CCT has three components which are; the based,Top -up and livelihood.

“The CCT is a N5,000 monthly stipend but it is dispersed bimonthly to beneficiaries,”she said.

She mentioned that the pilot exercise would also be conducted in Jigawa,Niger, Anambra, Cross Rivers and Oyo states.

In her remark,the Special Adviser to the Bauchi state Governor on Social Investment Program(SIP),Hajiya Amina Katagum applauded the National Conditional Transfer office for selecting Bauchi state for the pilot exercise in the NorthEast region.

She said that the present administration was committed to the success of the program.

While commending the CCT national office on its various interventions,Katagum said that recently another 32,000 on the CCT program.

Declaring the training open, Katagum enjoined participants from.the two LGA to understand the concept of the intervention for successful implementation.
