The Niger State Government has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Flour Mills of Nigeria to onboard the company into its Special Agro-industrial Processing zone.
Governor Umaru Bago while at the signing ceremony in Government House, Minna, said the partnership will set a new pace in the state’s drive to food security and industrialization.
He said by onboarding the company, there is brighter future in the development of agriculture and industrialization not only in the state but the country at large.
Bologi Ibrahim, Chief Press Secretary to the governor quoted the chairman of Flour Mills of Nigeria, John Coumantaros assuring that the company will strive in making Niger a principal agricultural industrial state.
According to him, the enlistment of the Flour Mills of Nigeria into the Niger State Special Agro-industrial Processing zone is a great milestone for the company and the State, expressing optimism that the citizens of the state will benefit more from the partnership.
“Mr. Coumantaros who noted that a farm without a factory is a weed, and a factory without a farm is a scrap, stressed that the union of the two is a powerful idea that would mark the advancement of Agricultural and Industry for the citizens of Niger State”, said Bologi.
Balogi added that already, the African Development Bank has promised to build an Agricultural Transformation Centre at Sunti immediately the Flour Mills of Nigeria is included in the Special Agro-industrial Processing zone.
