Four ATBU Staff’s Thesis To Be Converted To Text Books, Get Tetfund Support

Four PhD staff of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) Bauchi have scaled through selection Board of Tertiary Education trust Fund (TEDFund) to get the thesis to be converted to textbooks.

Director, Public Relations of the institution, Dr. Andee Iheme made this known in a press statement issued to WikkiTimes in Bauchi on Sunday.

He said that the board is to support the conversion of some of the quality PhD thesis into books to address the paucity of reading and learning materials in Nigerian Universities.

According to Dr. Iheme, the development was contained in a memo addressed to the Vice Chancellor, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi by the Executive Secretary of Tetfund.

The release said that the “Board of Trustees is saddled with the responsibility of selecting quality PhD. thesis from institutions in Nigeria and abroad authored by Nigerians for conversion to textbooks”.

It explained that the move is aimed at aiding teaching, learning and research in the Nigerian universities under the ‘Book Development Project of the Fund.’

Iheme noted that the staff involved include, Dr Babawuro Shu’aibu of the Department of Vocational and Technology Education, Faculty of Technology Education.(Conceptual Model for Integrating Information and Communication Technology in Nigeria Higher Education Institutions Offering Technical and Vocational Education) from Universiti Teknologi, Malaysia (UTM) and Dr. Saeed Isa Ahmed of the Department of Chemical engineering faculty of Engineering and Engineering Technology (Optimal planning for Landfill Gas Utilization as a Renewable Energy Source for Environmental Engineering) from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM).

Others according to the release, are, Dr. Magaji Abba, Department of Accounting and Finance Faculty of Management sciences ( Effect of Environment Operational Performance and Disclosures on Capital Structure Financing of the Nigeria Listed Companies) from Universiti Putra Malaysia and Dr. Aminu Umar of the Department of Architecture Faculty of Environmental (Fire Safety in Factory Buildings in Nigeria) from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.

“The Vice Chancellor and the University Community congratulated them and hoped that they would put in more effort to produce more books”, the release concluded.
