Bauchi State Within The Week Under Review

Reports on Monday, 14th September, 2020 indicated that Governor Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir presided over the inauguration of the Board of Directors, Bauchi Mining, Synergy and Exploration Limited held at the Council Chamber, Government House Bauchi.

He said the inauguration was another milestone in efforts towards realizing the potentials in the mining resources of the state economy.

He commended the efforts of the Federal Government in achieving one of the cardinal principles of economic growth plan and added that his administration had created the Ministry of Natural Resources to reduce risk of mining areas, improve internally generated revenue for the state for service delivery considering that the state is blessed with abundant natural resources.

Lawal Mu’azu Bauchi, Special Assistant on New Media to the Governor reported that the Chairman, Board of Directors of the company, Alhaji Abubakar Mahmoud Lawal said the new Board was ready to contribute positively to the economic development of the state.

On Tuesday, September 15th, 2020, the Executive Governor of Bauchi state, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed received in audience former Ambassador to Russia, France and United Kingdom, Ambassador Jibrin Chinade, at his office in Government House Bauchi.

Also on Tuesday, Governor Bala commenced the official distribution of the mobility chairs procured in synergy with an NGO based in Germany, Bruderhilfe (Social Development Initiative) following his recent visit to Germany where he signed an agreement with the NGO.

The Governor said his administration had opened up for Bauchi to International organizations to assist in improving the living conditions of the citizens of the state.

He said his administration would soon commission an Agency for the Persons Living with Disability for them to access government’s interventions.

The Chairperson of the NGO, Mrs. Mary Bruder said the distribution of the tricycles was to contribute to reducing the sufferings of the beneficiaries. She also said the NGO was ready to partner with the state government in the areas of education and health.

The beneficiaries thanked Governor Bala Mohammed for working towards finding solutions to some of their challenges especially his desire to commission the Agency for Persons Living with Disability.

On the same day, Governor Bala received in  audience, Consult Honorary of Chad in Kano, His Excellency, Assair Abubakar Ali overseeing 19 Northern states of Nigeria.

His Excellency, Assair Abubakar Ali was at the Governor’s office to seek for continued partnership with the state government with a view to strengthen their bilateral relations.

Governor Bala who was delighted to receive the visitor in his office, used the medium to brief him on the laudable policies and programmes initiated by his administration for the benefit of the citizens of the state.

In another development, on Wednesday, September 16th, 2020, Governor Bala signed a bill for the Regulation, Control and Management of Traffic in the state and other matters connected thereto 2020.

The Governor said seasoned policy makers would be appointed to man the Agency for the Traffic Management with not less than 200 people to be employed on the commencement of the operations.

He further said the bill would among others; sanitize towns and villages of the state.

Lawal Mu’azu Bauchi, Special Assistant New Media to the Governor reported that, the Speaker, Bauchi State House of Assembly, Rt. Honourable Abubakar Y Sulaiman said the bill would assist in advancing the economy of the state and provide employment opportunities to citizens of the state.

On the same day, the Executive Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed received in  audience of the House of Representatives’ Committee on Reformatory Institutions who visited him at the Government House Bauchi.

The Governor commended the committee for the visit during the interactive session and pledged to support them. He called on stakeholders to join hands in overcoming the challenges of congestion in correctional centres by coming up with a framework that will ensure speedy dispensation.

Governor Bala appealed to the Federal Government to extend its COVID-19 support to Correctional Services and National Assembly to come up with a budgetary allocation that will provide isolation centres in the centres.

The Deputy Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Tijjani Zanna Zakariyya said the committee was set up to inspect facilities at the Correctional centres in the North East so as to tackle the problem of overstretched facilities bedevilling the Nation’s Correctional centres for effective reformation of inmates.

The Executive Governor of Bauchi state, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed,On Thursday, September 17th, 2020 received in the audience, Senate Committee on ICT and Cybercrime led by its Chairman, Senator Yakubu Oseni who visited him at the Council Chamber, Government House Bauchi.

During the visit, Governor Bala appreciated the committee for the visit and expressed surprise at the achievements of Almuhibbah Foundation, a pet project of the State First Lady, Hajiya Aisha Bala Mohammed.

The Governor said the importance of ICT could not be overemphasized, especially in tackling corruption and corrupt practices in management of resources and his administration would use ICT to enhance the integrity of the state’s database.

He also assured to continue to support the First Lady to contribute towards advancing the capacity of women and children to enable them actualize their potentials.

On his part, the Chairman Senate Committee on ICT and Cybercrime, Senator Yakubu Oseni in his presentation said that, the dynamics of today’s global technology space had made it mandatory to align public institutions with all regulatory requirements for cyber security.  

Senator Oseni during the courtesy visit informed the Governor that Almuhibba Foundation had been nominated by the committee to receive a merit award as a result of the approval of the foundation to run ICT training.

The Chairman solicited the support and cooperation of the state government for the success of its assigned responsibilities.

On the same day, the Executive Governor Bala  hosted the members of the Senate Committee on ICT and Cybercrime on a Dinner at the Banquet Hall, Government House Bauchi.

The Governor during the dinner applauded the members and reaffirmed his respect and solidarity to the senate having served in the parliament before.   

The Committee Chairman, Senator Yakubu Oseni who spoke through a member of the committee, Senator Hadeja expressed gratitude to Governor Bala for the honour and extended their appreciation to the first lady for the reception accorded to them.

The state First Lady, Hajiya Aisha Bala Mohammed thanked the committee for the official visit to her foundation and urged the National Assembly not to relent in supporting women to excel.
