Free Education: Taraba Gov Inaugurates Students’ Identification Project

Governor of Taraba Agbu Kefas inaugurated the Taraba State Students Identification System (TESIS), for public primary and secondary schools in the state.

Kefas, who inaugurated the project at the remodelled Government Primary School Nyamusala on wednesday in Jalingo, said the project sought to capture the accurate number of schools and pupils in the entire state.

The governor described the event as  a significant measure, and the key to achieving his administration’s  free education policy.

“Every child in Taraba is entitled to free education, and parents must take the responsibility of making them available for the good of the society.

“I urge the people of the state to key into the initiative, in order to secure a better future for our children and the state,” he said.

Kefas said his administration was pleased to take the financial burden of education off parents, and urged  everyone to feel free to advise government.

Dr Augustina Godwin, the state Commissioner for Education, reiterated the administration’s commitment to ensuring that free education becomes a reality.

Godwin commended the level of architectural work that went into remodelling the schools to ensure a conducive teaching and learning environment for teachers and pupils.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the highlight of the event was a demonstration of the data capturing by the governor, who registered some students alongside the consultant, TESIS field team, led by the Managing Director, ZIP Warehousing Limited, Mrs Uchenna Eshareturi.
