Gunmen kidnaps Delta NLC Chairman

The Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC in Delta State, Comrade Goodluck Ofobruku has been kidnapped by suspected gunmen.

Reports say the Labour leader was driving out of his house behind Immigration office in Asaba when he was abducted by the gunmen who were robbing a drinking joint in the area around 8pm last Saturday.

Secretary of the NLC in the State, Comrade Innocent Ofuonyeadi who confirmed the incident to newsmen yesterday said that Ofobruku was kidnapped while driving in NLC Sienna bus that night to get some drugs.

Ofuonyeadi said he was intercepted by the hoodlums along his street, adding that the abductors were yet to establish contact with the family of the victim.

According to him, the hoodlums which suspected to be herdsmen, took Comrade Goodluck Ofobruku into the bush, abandoning the vehicle at the spot he was kidnapped, pointing out that all his lines have been switched off.

Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO in the State, DSP Onome Onowakpoyeya said the Police were already in the bushes to rescue the NLC leader, expressing the hope that the victim would be rescued unhurt.
