Hajara Jibrin Gidado: born in jos; meet the only divorcee female commissioner in Bauchi state

The recent media chat by the Bauchi state governor, Bala Mohammed has reinforced the debate about gender stereotypes and women’s participation in politics. The governor during the media chat says it’s a difficult task to appoint a woman as a commissioner in Bauchi state—citing religion and influence of male politicians as reasons. Although women form a significant voting bloc in every election circle in Nigeria, their representation in governance remains negligible.

The governor thanked the people of Itas Gadau local government for allowing him to appoint Hajara Jibrin Gidado—the only female commissioner into his cabinet.

WikkiTimes looked at her CV and reports that Hajara, the only female commissioner that made it to the Bauchi state executive council was born in December 12, 1989,in Jos, Plateau state.

Hajara did most of her schoolings in Jos. She attended Hassan Memorial Nursery/Primary School, LGEA Primary School Gangare, Hakimi Aliyu Secondary School, Mokwa; College of Islamic Studies and ZIBEH Institute of Technology—all in Jos, Plateau state.

Hajara later obtained a Diploma certificate in Science Laboratory Technology at the Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic, Bauchi in 2015.

Her CV suggests, Hajara has worked with USAID as a young political party leader’s academy, 2018.

Aged 30, a passionate driver; Hajara is the youngest and only female divorcee commissioner to man ministry of women affairs in Bauchi state.
