Inferno Razes Multi-milllion Naira Goods in Ilorin

Goods and properties worth millions of naira on Friday, were razed by Inferno in Ita-Amodu, Ilorin West local council of Kwara State.

It was learned that 27.8 million of properties were destroyed when inferno gutted two flats.

According to DailyTrust, the fire incident which occurred at Ile Oba-Ologun gutted buildings of two flats and six rooms.

Spokesman of the state fire service, Hakeem Adekunle, on Saturday attributed the cause to a power surge which occurred “around 5pm on Friday.”

He said firefighters arrived at the location and initiated operations to suppress the flames and to prevent the fire from spreading further.

“Six rooms were affected in the building with property estimated at over N27.8m destroyed. The firemen were able to minimise the damage to save other flats in the building, including many tangible properties,” he added.

The director of the Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, urged the citizens to always cultivate the habit of switching off their electrical appliances even before bedtime.

He explained that “it would help them to prevent the chances of fire outbreaks in their various homes, and also help them to drastically reduce it.
