The Kano State Government has announced plans to recruit 400 local security personnel per local government to secure primary schools across the state.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf said the state will recruit a total of 17,600 school security personnel across the state to guard primary school pupils, teachers and facilities.
In a tweet via his verified X handle, the governor said the personnel will be employed from the locality where the schools are located to ensure service delivery, adding that this measure is in addition to the renovation and construction of new classrooms.
“In addition to the renovation and construction of new classrooms, we are planning to recruit 17,600 school security personnel across Kano State”.

“The personnel will be employed across the state to ensure the safety of primary school facilities, teachers and pupils, with 400 personnel per local government”.
“The local security personnel will be employed from the locality where the schools are located to ensure effective service delivery”, tweeted Abba.
The governor had earlier announced release of N1,903,315,617.07 to the state LGAs for renovation of classrooms through the Community Reorientation Committee to be supervised by the state universal basic education board.
The governor also said another sum of N2,925,140,591.60 has been approved for the construction of new classrooms across the state.
“These approvals are part of our declaration of State of Emergency on Education in Kano State, and we shall consequently continue to roll out more approvals in due course”, he said.
