Jigawa Governor Suspends Commissioner for Alleged Mismanagement of Ramadan Feeding

Jigawa state governor Umar Namadi has suspended the state’s Commissioner for Commerce, Aminu Kanta for alleged involvement in mismanagement of Ramadan feeding fund in Babura local government area of the state.

WikkiTimes understand that the Commissioner was suspended on Friday over his alleged involvement in a reported mismanagement of daily iftar feeding in Babura LGA, a programme design by the state government to feed poor and vulnerable individuals during the ongoing Ramadan fasting.   

Malam Ibrahim Bala, the Secretary to the Jigawa State Government in a statement said the suspension which is with immediate effect is to allow for thorough investigation.

Bala said the suspension is part of the state’s government drive to ensure accountability and proper management of public funds.

WikkiTimes recalled that the Jigawa state government had set aside N2.83 billion for the special Ramadan Iftar(breaking of fast) in 609 feeding centres across the state with a target of 3.8 million vulnerable persons for a period of three weeks.
