Jigawa Govt Officials Sign Performance Bond for Accountability

Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi has issued an Executive Order mandating all commissioners and heads of ministries and agencies to sign Performance Bonds to ensure accountability by public officers across the state.

Governor Namadi said the signing of the bond was necessitated out of their desire to ensure the collective vision becomes a reality, which is to be supervised by a Result Delivery and Performance Management Coordination Unit.

Announcing the establishment of the unit after spearheading the bond signing ceremony, the governor said the unit will play a vital role in monitoring and managing a performance measurement tracking system and will ensure accountability and transparency by all commissioners and heads of agencies across the state.

“Today marks a pivotal day in our commitment to a Greater Jigawa State. The signing of the Performance Bond by Hon. Commissioners and Heads of MDAs is a crucial step towards ensuring our collective vision becomes a reality”.

“The Executive Order establishes a Results Delivery & Performance Management Coordination Unit, ensuring a robust framework for performance measurement and accountability”.

“The Unit will play a pivotal role in monitoring and managing a Performance Measurement Tracking System. This initiative is about accountability and transparency. Every Head of MDA, including Honorable Commissioners, will sign a Performance Bond, committing to set targets”, said Governor Namadi in a tweet via his verified X formally (Twitter) handle.

According to him, the bond is further aimed to underscore their dedication to delivering results and being responsible for any lapses, adding that the performances would be measured on a quarterly and annual basis.

“The Performance Measurement System, based on quarterly and annual assessments, will keep us on track. Each MDA will have a Delivery Task Team to collaborate with the Unit for internal monitoring and evaluation, ensuring accurate data for the Performance MIS. While challenges may arise initially, this is a journey toward improved governance accountability.

“Our aim is a convergence between Performance Bond Measurement and sector-wide reviews. The integration of our 12-Point Agenda into the State Dev’t Plan strengthens our commitment”, he added.
