June 12: Bauchi Planned Protest Suspended

Protesters have suspended their planned demonstrations in Bauchi city, which were earlier scheduled for June 12, citing security concerns of possible infiltration.

WikkiTimes reports that #Takeitbackmovement has mobilised people to participate in the protest in 20 states in the country.

Soldiers close to the protesters’ meeting point

Nazif Nuhu, the leader of the TakeitBack Movement Bauchi State told WikkiTimes that the planned protest has been suspended after consultation with security agents.

“It has been suspended after a security meeting. There have been serious security threats of infiltration. So, as patriotic citizens, we shouldn’t lead by blindness (sic). We put people’s safety first. National interest is above other considerations. So, it has been suspended,” said Nazif Nuhu

According to him, there were security concerns over the planned protest, which led them to suspend taking to the streets for now.

WikkiTimes observed that armed security forces have been stationed in strategic locations around the protesters’ meeting point.
