Gunmen have abducted Alhaji Muhammad Sani Idris, Commissioner for Information Niger State, BBC Hausa Service reports.
The Commissioner was abducted from his home in Baban Tunga, Tafa Local Government Area, early Monday morning.
Alhaji Ahmed Ibrahim Matane, Secretary to the Government of Niger State, confirmed this to reporters in Niger on Monday said, the commissioner was abducted around 1 am on Monday night.
He added that security forces are currently searching for his whereabouts with the view to rescuing him and brought the perpetrators to book.
