Just In: Bauchi Gov Approves N950,000 Subsidy for Each Intending Pilgrim

The Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has approved the payment of N950,000, equivalent to 50% of the additional expenses of N1.9 million to be paid by each pilgrim for the 2024 Hajj exercise in Saudi Arabia from the state.

Governor Bala who announced this via his official Facebook Account on Friday, said the move was to alleviate the financial burden on the pilgrims, especially after the additional fares announced by the National Hajj Commission (NAHCON).

The Governor disclosed that a subsidy has been allocated to each pilgrim in the state, to ease the financial strain on pilgrims who embark on the sacred journey to the Holy land.

He instructed the Bauchi State Pilgrims Welfare Board to reimburse the said amount to all the pilgrims including those who have already paid the full fees and those who have not yet completed their payments are urged to do so promptly to benefit from the subsidy.

The state will now pay N2.1 billion for 2,290 intending pilgrims from the state.

WikkiTimes has earlier reported that Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State approved a subsidy of N500,000 for each intending pilgrim for the 2024 Hajj.

According to NAHCON, each pilgrim from Nigeria is expected to pay about N8.2 million for the 2024 Hajj, depending on the geographical location.
