Just In: Court Affirms Ganduje’s Suspension From APC

The Kano State High Court has upheld the suspension of Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The court, acting on an ex parte order, has barred Ganduje who also served as Kano State Governor for eight years, from representing himself as a member of the party.

The order, issued by Justice Usman Malam Na’abba, also barred Ganduje from presiding over any activity of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).

The decision stems from an ex parte motion filed by Haladu Gwanjo and Laminu Sani, represented by their legal counsel Ibrahim Sa’ad, acting on behalf of the executive members of APC Ganduje ward.

Gwanjo, who serves as the party’s ward Legal Adviser, previously announced Ganduje’s suspension.

Consequently, the court directed Ganduje to refrain from overseeing any activities of the National Working Committee (NWC) of APC.

However, the Kano State Working Committee of APC has declared the suspension of ward party leaders who initially announced Ganduje’s suspension.

The APC in a statement on Tuesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Barrister Felix Morka, said “The purported suspension was the devious act of a group of impersonators of ward officials out to cause mischief and create confusion in the otherwise peaceful Ganduje Ward chapter of our party.

“The perpetrators of this criminal act are not card-carrying members of APC in the ward but are individuals affiliated with senior officials and representatives of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).

“The purported suspension is downright criminal, and of no effect whatsoever. The legitimate Executive Committee of the Ganduje Ward has since denounced the action and reaffirmed Dr. Ganduje as a bona fide member of the party in the ward, and in good standing.”

The ruling NNPP has dismissed involvement in the crisis facing the APC in Kano State.

WikkiTimes earlier reported that the Kano State Anti-Corruption and Public Complaints Commission announced new corruption charges and maladministration against ex-Governor Abdullahi Ganduje.

According to the commission’s chairman, Muhuyi Magaji, investigations uncovered the diversion of N51.3 billion from local government funds to unauthorised individuals during Ganduje’s tenure.
