Kaduna Bound Train Derails

An Abuja-Kaduna bound train has for the third time derailed along Jere area of Kaduna State leaving many passengers stranded amidst uncertainty of their safety.

The train which departed Abuja around 8:05 am, with dozens of passengers derailed about an hour later at Jere.

In a tweet seeing by WikkiTimes, Shehu Sani, former Kaduna North Senator said “a minor Abuja, Kaduna morning train derail near Jere but engineers are attending to it.”

Even though details are sketchy as at press time, the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) is yet to make any official statement with regards to the incident, WikkiTimes understand that this is the third time the Abuja-Kaduna train derailed.

The Daily Trust reported that currently, efforts are being made to repair the train, with about three carriages off the tracks, adding that despite the fact that it stopped in a mountainous area, security personnel, including soldiers and police officers, were present.WikkiTimes recalled that on Friday 26th January 2024, a train bound from Abuja to Kaduna derailed two months after resuming operation after the NRC suspended operation along the route on March 28th, 2022.
