Abdullahi Al-Ameen, the Commander of the Nigeria Hunters and Forest Security Service (NHFSS) in Kano State reported that the service received a total of 37 complaints in June.
Speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria on Thursday in Kano, Al-Ameen stated that the complaints were primarily related to criminal and illegal activities occurring in the forests.
He emphasized the NHFSS’s commitment to its mandate of preventing and detecting crimes in forested areas.
“So far, we have addressed 30 out of the 37 complaints, with seven still pending,” Al-ameen said. “The majority of cases involve tricycle theft, phone snatching, farmer-herder clashes, kidnapping, and rape, among other issues.”
He assured continued collaboration with state security agencies and other relevant stakeholders to eliminate crime from the forests.
Al-Ameen also urged the public to cooperate with the service by providing reliable intelligence on criminal activities within the forests.
