Gunmen suspected to be bandits in Niger State have kidnapped the former local government chairman of Ngaski local government area of Kebbi State Garba Hassan and twelve other travellers who were on their way to the state from Abuja.
The bandits reportedly attacked commuters around Tegina and Kontagora in Niger state taking them hostage.
A source who spoke to Daily Post noted that the victims were taken into the bush with their whereabouts unknown at the moment.
The Chief Press Secretary to the state governor of Kebbi State, Ahmed Idris, while confirming the incident, noted that the government was doing its best to rescue the former local government boss after being notified of the abduction.
“We have heard about it, we are investigating the circumstances that led to his kidnap, and everything will be done to secure Alhaji Garba Hassan’s release.”
The police command in Niger State, through its public relations officer, Wasiu Abiodun, did not confirm the incident but noted that he will confirm what really took place that led to the incident.
