The Kogi State House of Assembly has on Thursday constituted a 7-member committee tasked to accurately determine the revenue streams of the state.
Speaker Aliyu Yusuf inaugurated the team in Lokoja, stressing the necessity of obtaining precise financial data for the state.
Yusuf emphasized the lack of clarity regarding funds from the federation account and internal revenue generation, citing discrepancies in figures.
He stated that acquiring accurate data on the state’s income is vital for effective planning and development initiatives.
The 7-Man committee, chaired by Olawumi Jacob, with Akus Lawal serving as Co-Chairman and Muhammed Bello-Abdul as Clerk, has been tasked with unveiling its terms of reference shortly. The speaker has given the committee a deadline of eight weeks to submit its comprehensive report.
News Agency of Nigeria reports that members of the committee include Idrees Maikudi, Jibrin Abu, Abdulrasaq Suleiman, and Emmanuel Obaro. This initiative reflects the state assembly’s commitment to transparency and informed decision-making in managing Kogi State’s finances.
