In the wee hours of Monday, a Nigerian Air Force (NAF) helicopter crashed in Tami village, Igabi Local Government Area, Kaduna State.
The incident, occurring around 5:00 am, alarmed local residents.
It is gathered that the helicopter on a routine operational flight, encountered technical difficulties leading to the crash.
Sources said the pilot of the helicopter utilised emergency protocols and survived the crash, and no death was reported.
According to Daily Trust, locals quickly mobilized to assist, expressing relief at the pilot’s survival.
Military officers arrived to secure the area and begin an investigation, though the NAF has not released an official statement as of press time.
Kaduna is one of the northwestern states severely affected by bandit activities, resulting in numerous killings, abductions, and the displacement of thousands.
In August 2023, bandits claimed responsibility for grounding a NAF helicopter in Chukuba village, Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State. However, the Nigerian Air Force refuted this claim.
