Never again shall we dehumanized those that served us—Bauchi governor assures retirees

Bauchi state Governor Bala Mohammed said his administration would not be found wanting on prompt payment of retirees’ entitlements like previous administrations.

The state governor stated this during a two days retreat organized for members of the state executive council, special advisers, permanent secretaries and local government caretaker chairmen holding at Bauchi State University, Gadau.

The governor said “as a government, we must ensure that our retired workers in the state receive their pensions and gratuities as at when due.

” As we meet at this retreat, we must resolved that, never again, no matter the circumstances, shall we subject those who served the state meritoriously, to the spectre of dehumanization and disrespect that became their lot and the painful plight of their families “, the governor said.

The governor warned all his appointees against abuse of procedures and established protocols in awarding government contracts and execution of programs.

“Do not abuse financial instructions and do not mistake career elevation to wealth accumulation by foul and dubious means”.

The governor who reiterated his administration’s commitment to reinvigorating health and education sectors also challenged his members of the executive council to consolidate on revenue drive to help the state have some financial acumen.

In his remarks, the former secretary to the government of the federation, Mahmud Yayale Ahmed who is the chairman of the retreat described it as ” a convivial atmosphere that would foster mutual understanding and enhance team building”, which he says will reduce tension and friction that would undermine government business.

Yayale insisted that civil servants and political appointees must remain hardworking, disciplined, loyal and commensurate integrity for government to properly function.

The retreat who’s theme titled; Road map to a greater Bauchi State, also houses key players in the administration and the organized private sector with a view to formulating pragmatic solutions to developmental challenges in the state.
