Kano State Government has refuted rumours that it had begun plans to dissolve newly created emirates and reinstate the former Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II who was deposed and banished by the previous administration.
The emirates were established during the immediate past administration of Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

After the emergence of Abba Kabir Yusuf as Kano State governor-elect, his political godfather, Rabiu Musa Kwankwanso hinted that the new administration would review Sanusi’s dethronement. Sanusi was enthroned by Kwankwaso after he was fired as a governor of Central Bank of Nigeria by former president, Goodluck Jonathan.
Bature Dawakin Tofa, the Press Secretary to Governor Yusuf, said the state government had not made a decision concerning the matter yet and has not approached the state House of Assembly on it.
“The engagements between the executive and legislative arm of government in Kano will be open and transparent to allow residents access to information on major policies and decisions of the NNPP-led administration,” he stated.
