NSCDC Seals Danga Security, 3 Other Private Guard Outfits in Bauchi

Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on Monday sealed four private guard companies in Bauchi State for alleged illegal operations in the state.

llelaboye Olajide, the Corps’ Commandant in the state, stated this at a news conference on Monday in Bauchi, noting that the operatives of the corps embarked on monitoring the companies before they were finally sealed.

According to the officer, the companies were operating without fulfilling the required criteria.

“Today, the operatives sealed four companies because they did not fulfil the criteria required by the law,” he said.

He disclosed that the security companies sealed include Security Hunters and Patrol, Danga Security Hunters and Patrol, Baushe Security Hunters and Patrol and Unity Security Hunters and Patrol.

Olajide stressed that the operatives will intensify monitoring and supervision of all beats manned by private guard companies to ensure full compliance.

He said registration of a company and obtaining licences to operate a security guard are two different things.

“You are just following the process, you must register your company and also obtain a licence for operating private security guards. Therefore, the private guards’ companies were sealed for illegal operation or failure to renew occupational licences,” he said.

Saad Aminu, the Deputy Commandant and Head of Private Guard companies, while commenting, warned that companies operating without licences would be sanctioned to ensure efficiency in the command’s operations.

He further stated that the operatives arrested seven operators of the companies to explain their reasons for illegal operations.

Aminu said the Commandant-General of the Corps, Dr. Ahmed Audi, had issued an order to ensure that all licenced security companies operating within the states are monitored.
