Samuel Gwott, the General Manager of Plateau Express Services, said Point of Sale (PoS) machines had been introduced to enhance the state transportation services. This, he said, would help address loss of revenue.
The general manager disclosed this to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday, noting that the state transportation services had been restructured for better improvement and adaptation to new technologies.
Gwott said that the restructuring would help birth a new transport service to meet the needs of the citizens.
According to him, the introduction of the PoS system would gradually eliminate cash collection and in the process mitigate revenue loss.
He further said that the transport service had also created a website which would enable customers to book online and would soon be operational.
He added that an IT department had been established to enable the service to be up to date in IT and to handle technology-related issues.
Similarly, he said under the IT, the service would be able to install trackers for monitoring of its vehicles.
Gwott said that official customer service had also been put in place where passengers on every car, travelling around Nigeria, would be called at random to give the vehicle situation report and prompt feedback would be given.
“Right now, there are stickers that are put in every car, to ensure that once there is any discomfort, inquiries or complaints, passengers will be able to reach out to us during the journey,” Gwott said.
He said that the IT department had also installed a transport management system where inventory from stores was managed for efficiency in operations.
The manager said that the members of staff had also been motivated in several ways and appropriately placed for effectiveness.
