Resident Registration: Kwara Withholds Defaulting Workers’ Salaries

The Kwara State government has withheld November salaries of workers who failed to complete their registration with the Kwara State Resident Registration Agency.

Hauwa Nuru, the state’s Finance Commissioner who made the disclosure said workers that failed to complete the registration will not receive their salaries until they update their details with the agency.

Mrs. Nuru, in a statement by Babatunde Toyin Abdulrasheed, Press Secretary of the ministry said workers who were successfully captured during the registration exercise have started receiving their salaries. She noted that the same process will be applied to local government and SUBEB employees.

“Many state government workers have received their November salary, with others still being credited, except for those who are yet to complete their registration with the Kwara State Resident Registration Agency (KWSRRA) as earlier instructed”, she said.

According to her, the government had earlier directed that November salary and bonus will be disbursed only to workers who have completed their KWSRRA registration, after more than six months window for every worker to do it.

She, however, urged the defaulting workers who are yet to receive their payment to visit the nearest registration office to resolve any pending issues.

“The directive requiring all state employees, including those in the 16 local government areas, to register with the KWSRRA is a strategic step toward improving accountability and service delivery”, she added.
