Royal Tussle: We Received Court Order Today- Kano Govt

Amidst ongoing controversies over claims on the prestigious Kano Emir’s throne, the Kano State Government has said that it only received the Federal High Court’s Order halting the reinstatement of Sanusi Lamido as Emir of Kano today, Monday.

The Court Order issued by Justice Liman, was instituted after Aminu Babba, the Sarkin Dawaki Babba of Kano approached the court following Governor Abba Kabir’s assent to the amended Kano State Emir’s Act that abolished the four new emirates created in the state in 2019 by the immediate past governor of the state, Abdullahi Ganduje.

The Kano State Government through it’s Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Haruna Isa Dederi said it only received the court order today (Monday) after it has already implemented ‘what the court order is all’ about.

“It is today around 10:00am that I received the controversial court order, from staff of the court”.

“Since today is a working day and it is now that we received it, so let’s wait and hear the court response as we have replied back with our stand”, said Isa, according to BBC Hausa.

WikkiTimes had earlier reported that Governor Abba had sacked all the emirs of the four emirates in Kano and approved the reappointed Sanusi Lamido as the Emir of Kano following the amendment of the Chieftaincy Act by the state Assembly.

However, the dethroned Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, returned to the ancient city on Friday night, after a court order was issued by a Federal High Court the same night, halting the reinstatement of the new emir.
