Sheikh Dahiru Usman-Bauchi Denies Writing Letter to CJN Ariwoola to Resolve Kano Gov’ship Election Crisis

The grand leader of Tijjaniya in Nigeria, Sheikh Dahiru Usman-Bauchi, has denied writing a letter to the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Olukayode Ariwoola, seeking fairness and justice to parties locked in a legal battle over the outcome of the March 18 Kano governorship election.

The letter was printed on a letterhead bearing the full name of the renowned Bauchi-based Islamic cleric and dated 1st December 2023.

Allegedly, the office of the CJN received the letter from Usman-Bauchi in its office on 18th December 2023. The letter is titled, ‘REQUEST FOR YOUR PROMPT INTERVENTION OF JUSTICE’.

Checks as of the time of filling this report show that some sections of social media information pages posted the letter along with an image of the cleric in an attempt to give it veracity.

Similarly, pro-Kwankwaso pages shared the letter on their platforms.

However, WikkiTimes obtained audio clips of Usman-Bauchi from his family members and disciples where he was quoted discrediting being the originator of the letter.

“I don’t know the letter and it was not from me,” Usman-Bauchi said in one of the audio clips.

Speaking further on behalf of the cleric, Vice Chairman of Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi Foundation, who is also one of his sons, Tijjani Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, said, “Our attention was drawn over the purported letter sent to the Chief Justice of Nigeria. People from all walks of life are calling to verify and to confirm the authenticity and the truth about the letter.”

He added, “The truth of the matter is that the letter did not emanate from Maulana Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi. The letterhead is not the type used by Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi.”

Tijjani emphasised that the fabricators of the controversial letter forged Sheikh Dahiru’s Foundation’s letterhead.

“Sheikh is not a signatory in foundation letter headed papers, and today Sheikh is not signing any letter, but he used a special seal and Stamp in all the letters that emanated from him,” he confirmed.

Tijjani urged people and relevant authorities to disregard the letter and to understand that the letter is not from Maulana Sheikh to put the record straight.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court reserved its judgement on the Kano governorship legal tussle after listening to counsels representing both parties in the case.

WikkiTimes had reported that incumbent Kano governor, Abba Yusuf, appealed the judgement of Court Appeal which nullified his election to the Supreme Court.

The governor approached the apex court seeking an order to set aside the judgement of the appellant court.

Earlier, APC gubernatorial candidate, Nasir Gawuna, challenged the victory of NNPP’s Abba at the Kano State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal.

In September this year, the tribunal in its judgement sacked Governor Yusuf and declared Gawuna the winner of the election after deducting 165,663 votes from Abba’s total votes as invalid because they were not stamped.
