Suspected Terrorists Nabbed Inside Benue Hotel

The Benue Police Command says it has arrested five kidnapping suspects lodging inside a hotel in Orokam Ogbadibo Local Government Area.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the command, Catherine Anene, disclosed this on Tuesday, warning that the command will not condone any criminal.

Anene said the suspects — Idris Ibrahim, Sani Mohammed, Homidu Dauda, Aliyu Adamu, and Salisu Yakubu — were arrested following a tip-off by a resident of the area. According to the PPRO, there were reports of kidnapping around the area.

She said the suspects claimed to be harders, but they were not able to give a satisfactory account of themselves. The police spokesperson listed the times recovered from them to include a pair of camouflage trousers, one beret, and one motorcycle.

On other criminal activities, Anene said instead of curtailing security challenges alongside the police, locals were “busy burning houses and destroying property.”

WikkiTimes had reported violent communal clash in some parts of the state where houses and properties were arsoned.

“The CP cited examples of cases of mischief by fire at Oju and Logo, where he has arrested and arraigned 37 suspects,” said Anene. “He promised not to relent on the fight against crime.”

She added that the police arrested another suspected kidnapper after a failed kidnapping attempt in Logo LGA.

“On 21/6/2023 at about 1145hrs information was received that three armed men invaded Tse-Agbu village in Logo Local Government Area and kidnapped one Idang Francis. While escaping with the victim, the suspects were intercepted and the victim was rescued. Two of the suspects escaped to a nearby forest while one was arrested,” she stated.
