Boko Haram: 466 Surrendered, Dozen Killed In Two Weeks

Defense Headquarters Abuja, has stated that troops of Operation Hadin Kai have continued to record successes as 466 terrorists surrendered and dozen were eliminated in different operations in two weeks in the northeast.

The Defense Media Operations Director Bernard Onyeuko disclosed this in Abuja, said the sustained assault on the terrorists by Nigerian troops led to the surrender of 120 adult men, 137 adult women and 209 children from Boko Haram and Islamic State of West Africa Province ISWAP.

He stated that the operation also led to the assassination of Mohammed Yusuf who is one of the leaders of the ISWAP as well as his fighters.

He added that the troops also rescued 20 kidnapped victims, explaining that the surrendered terrorists and other arrested criminals have been accordingly documented and handed over to the appropriate security agencies for necessary action.

Similarly, Onyeuko noted that troops of Operation Hadarin Daji, in the North West, have killed the notorious bandit Dogo Umaru and dozens of his fighters in Zanfara State forests and recovered various weapons, operational motorcycles in addition to rescue of 10 kidnapped victims.

Mr. Onyeuko applauded the troops for their successes in various operations, urging the public to continue supporting the military in its effort to rid the nation of all forms of insecurity and terrorism.
