Sokoto State Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has withdrawn from the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Primary Contest.
Mr Tambuwa urged his supporters to backed former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
Mr Tambuwal, one of the presidential hopefuls in the race, announced his withdrawal at the national convention shortly before voting commences.
He said it was time to make painful decisions and sacrifices.
With the new development, former vice president Atiku Abubakar is favoured to win the PDP primaries.
Tambuwal, prior to his withdrawal is the only aspirant from the North-West.
With about 193 delegates from the North-West, Tambuwal’s withdrawal is considered a major boost for Mr Atiku.
