There was a drama in the Adamawa State Chief Judge’s court on Monday, when Wulbina Jackson, the Commissioner for Education and Human Development claimed to be blind after making her way into the witness box.
Jackson would not go blind until the time she was to attest to a signed affidavit she had submitted to the court. WikkiTimes learned that the commissioner was facing a trial bordering on alleged irregularities over Lugunda chieftaincy title (Kwaldi Lungunriya) she gave to Dishon Dansanda in December 2019.

It became necessary to question Jackson, who is a commissioner in the Ministry of Education, for performing the duty of her counterpart in the Ministry of Local Council and Chieftaincy Affairs.
Justice Nathan Musa Adamawa, the Chief judge of Adamawa State, was furious over Jackson’s claims.
“If you are blind, who guided you into the witness box?” Justice Adamawa inquired.“Who guided you inside the courtroom? I can’t accept your blindness inside my court.”
Following the judge’s reaction to her claim, Jackson finally recognised the affidavit as duly signed by her. She could not explain how, as commissioner for education, she was presiding over duties in the Ministry for Local Council and Chieftaincy Affairs.
During her cross-examination by Abu Sule, the plaintiffs’ counsel, Jackson argued that Lugunda’s tradition does not include women in the selection of chiefs. However, the court has adjourned the case to June 28.
According to WikkiTimes’ findings, the presence of Jackson in a meeting held to determine the selection process of a new chief after the demise of Alfred Kimde, the late monarch of Lugunda Kingdom, was perceived as taboo and a pointer to manipulating the process.
