How APC Primaries Tore Members Apart In Jigawa, Spark Mass Exit

The recent gubernatorial, state and national assembly primary elections in Jigawa State have left many wounds in the minds of aggrieved followers who felt that the party meted out unfair treatment to them in the primaries.

WikkiTimes gathered that some of the current Deputy Governor of Jigawa State, and national assembly members of the APC from Jigawa State perfected plans and arrangements to dump the party for NNPP.

This is coming as Governor Badaru Abubakar of the state splashed N100,000,000 to secure the party’s presidential expression of interest and nomination forms. The governor is reeling to the centre having completed his constitutionally allowed two terms tenure of four years on a tattered home base support within the ranks of the APC.

In a last ditch attempt to save the face of the party in Jigawa, the governor set up a 27-member reconciliation committee. The committee, however, is e expected to meet with the aggrieved members who felt unfairly treated in the recent primaries of the party in the state.

The committee is expected to convince all the aggrieved party members to stay in the party as hundreds of them including serving senators had indicated plans to dump the party.

Already, big names among Jigawa APC Chieftains, current Deputy Governor Ahmed Mahmoud Gumel, Senator Sabo Nakudu and Bashir Adamu lead the team of revolting politicians out of the party.

The group had contacted NNPP chapter of the state for possible decamping. A group photograph of the Jigawa APC chieftains was seen circulating on social media after a meeting with the leadership of the NNPP.

Malam Aminu Ibrahim Ringim, Jigawa State NNPP Chairman hosted the meeting at his private residence in Kano.

In a reaction to the development, a chieftain of the NNPP, Lawan Kazaure confirmed that some APC and PDP serving and former Senators, house of representatives members, former deputy governor, and state assembly members among others have indicated interest to join their party.

He explained that meetings have been held in preparation to receive them into the party, adding that more politicians will join the party very soon.
