After Inviting Him For Farm Job, Man Plucks 16-Year-old Boy Eyes In Bauchi

A 16-year-old Uzairu Salisu from Kwanan Gulmammu Jahun In Bauchi State had his eyes pulled out of their sockets by one Ibrahim, a reisdent of Rafin Zurfi.

Uzairu disclosed that he was familiar with Ibrahim who had coaxed him into the bush to carry out a menial job on his farm. Afterwards, the latter used a cable wire to strangle him before yanking off his eyes.

Following the incident, the young Uzairu was later found at Dutsen Jira of Yelwa area In Bauchi.

The Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, Umar Mamman Sanda publicized this in a press release signed by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Mohammed Wakil. According to Sanda, the police would get to the root of the matter.

He added that the police will ensure that culprits behind the gory act are brought to book to serve as deterrence to others.

“At about 1800hrs a distress call was received from the ward head of Birshi, Mohammed Lawal, that a boy of about 16 yrs was found in his pool of blood with two of his eyes removed”, the police statement reads in part.

A team of policemen led by DPO of Yelwa moved to the scene of the crime and vacated the victim to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital Bauchi (ATBUTH) for treatment, according to the statement.

Sanda further called on parents and guardians to hold strict vigilance over the activities of their wards. “It is pertinent now more than ever that the whereabouts of wards and the company they keep are constantly kept in check by all those responsible.”

He appealed to community leaders, elders and authoritative persons to also keep an eye on happenings within their environment and ensure the needed intervention before situations degenerate.

In addition, he urged Bauchi citizens not to relent in partnering with the Police, especially with information and to stay vigilant, and report any suspicious or abnormal movement to the police.

Uzairu, according to the police is presently in the hospital receiving medical attention as mandated by the global best practices, ascertaining that the general public would be informed on the matter.
