Gudum Crisis: Bauchi Govt Constitutes Investigation Panel

Bauchi State Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has inaugurated an administrative committee of inquiry to look into the recent civil unrest in Gudum Sayawa and Gudum Hausawa Communities of Bauchi local government.

The governor charged the committee to investigate the immediate cause of the crisis and the perpetrators with a view to prosecuting them.

Governor Bala was represented by Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Ibrahim Mohammed Kashim said the government will ensure proper punishment of the culprit to serve as a deterrent to others.

Chairman of the committee, DIG Muhammad Sani Usman (retired) assured to work within the ambit of the law to fish out the perpetrators and recommend ways for preventing future occurrences.

He also solicited the cooperation of all the stakeholders towards the success of the assignment.

WikkiTimes recalls that in late April this year, a communal clash erupted in the two communities leading to the death of three persons with several other houses burnt. Curfew was imposed on the communities in an attempt to restore law and order.
