ABS Breaks Aged Long Jinx In Win Over Kogi Utd

Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) Ilorin FC on Saturday broke an aged long jinx of not winning double home matches with a 1-0 win over visiting Kogi United FC of Lokoja.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Ilorin based Nigeria National League (NNL) dominated the match Day 12 encounter from the beginning.

NAN recalls that the game is one of the week 12 matches in the Group A2 of the Northern Conference of the abridged 2020/2021 NNL Season played at the Kwara Stadium Complex, Ilorin.

The visitors succumbed to an early goal when Seun Owotuga beat the offside trap in the 10th minute to score the only goal of the match.

Samuel Bamigboye found Noah Ogidi inside the opposition’s box but his back hill attempt failed him from scoring in the 13th minute.

The visitors’ moment of the game came when they controlled possession in front of the ABS box but Tony Wilson’s final touch went wide instead of shooting directly at goal in the 37th minute.

In the 43rd minute, Kogi United’s goalkeeper, Salisu Ogbe, displayed his experience when he dealt perfectly with Abdulraheem Saad’s shot from a long range.

With just two minutes into restart, Kogi United’s Tony Wilson stole possession in front of ABS box and aimed at goal but his effort went wide in what looked like a shot that will beat the hosts’ goalkeeper, Abdullahi Boje.

ABS would had increased the tally in the 62nd minute, when Saad beat the offside trap and passed straight into the Kogi United’s box,  but one of the visitors’ defenders track back to make a vital touch before the ball reach one of the hosts’ attackers.

The visitors left some of the ABS technical crew and their officials on their toes for most part of the last 10 minutes of the match as they enjoyed possession leaving the hosts’ players chasing them. (NAN)
